OUR STORY
Like any baby item on the market, the rainkie blankie™
was created to fill a need. With technology at our
fingertips and a generation of moms that are more
educated and informed than ever before, it’s no wonder
we’re seeing so many products created by “mom-preneurs”.
Moms just seem to know how to get things done, and most
importantly, our children and families are our
inspiration. That’s an unstoppable combination!
Our story is no different. My son Korben inspired me
to pursue the rainkie blankie™. Here in Oklahoma there’s
a famous quote you may have heard from Will Rogers, “If
you don’t like the weather, wait a minute!” That’s
especially true in the spring. We left our house to go
run errands on a sunny spring day, and almost out of
nowhere an ominous rain cloud appeared. We were caught
in a downpour in the Target parking lot, and four-month
old Korben got soaked in his baby carrier.
All I had was his regular baby blanket that I always
took with us. As you can imagine, it only absorbed the
rain leaving a wet and fussy baby. For wintertime, I
needed a grab-and-go replacement to that bulky car seat
cover, which in my experience was entirely too difficult
to put on and take off and was suitable only during
arctic conditions. In all the hours I spent scouring
every aisle at the giant baby superstores, I found no
solutions.
I thought to myself, “Why isn’t there something for
parents that’s gadget-free that they can take with them
everywhere they go?” I wanted something that didn’t add
to the burden of the baby luggage I was already toting
around…a baby product that simply replaced another item.
I loved the grab-and-go convenience of the baby blanket,
but it just wasn’t cut out for an Oklahoma downpour.
“That’s it…an all-weather baby blanket that’s
water-repellent on one side and buttery soft for baby on
the other!” Finally, the solution! Being that I’m a bit
of a perfectionist, I spent hours and hours late at
night online to find the ‘perfect’ fabrics in quality,
performance, comfort, and style. I chose a polyester
microfiber (for softness) with the highest quality
durable water-repellent finish (DWR). For baby’s side of
the blanket, I knew I couldn’t go wrong with Korben’s
favorites: fleece, satin (charmeuse), or minkie. I
wanted a baby product moms would feel proud to use
themselves or to give as a unique baby gift.
As for me, I’ve always enjoyed helping others and
solving problems. Once I visualized the rainkie blankie™,
I couldn’t stop thinking about it. Even though I am
‘that person’ that seems to enjoy taking on ‘projects’
as my husband Rob calls it, bringing the rainkie blankie™
to fruition seemed like the only thing to do. With the
loving support of my family and Korben as my
inspiration, I’ve never looked back! |
